Transição energética justa e sindicatos petroleiros: contradições entre capital, trabalho e natureza

Abstract

The overall aim of this monograph is to develop a critical and theoretical analysis, based on historical-dialectical materialism, specifically on ecosocialism, on the input of Brazilian trade unions of oil and gas workers on just energy transition policies. To do so, we aim to synthesize the concept of metabolic rift, associating it with the climate crisis and environmental catastrophe, as well as its alternative, ecosocialism. Furthermore, we will investigate the contradictions of a just energy transition, exposing the non-neutrality of scientific and legal techniques, examining the corporate appropriation of the agenda embodied in economic energy transition and green capitalism, and considering class-based alternatives organized in a transition program. Moreover, we intend to understand the challenges of unions in Brazil, given the union model adopted by the country, as well as the crisis of the unions. Faced with the tension between economic and political issues raised by unions, and the hypothesis that they may assume a revolutionary character, we will make propositional remarks regarding the possible impact of the Unified Federation of Oil Workers (FUP) on the Brazilian just energy transition.
