Características sociodemográficas e de saúde de gestantes usuárias de álcool

Abstract

The issue of alcohol consumption among women worsens when such event occurs during reproductive age, because it establishes a direct influence on the maternity experience, which may interfere in the relationship between the mother and her baby and leverage the vulnerability factors already experienced by these women. Research engaged with the objective of verifying the relation between the social-demographics and health characteristics and the alcohol consumption by women during pregnancy. This is about a transversal case study, developed in a public maternity hospital in Salvador-BA that is part of Health Care State Network. The studied sample was composed by 268 pregnant women, where 217 (80, 97%) of those claimed to have had consumed alcohol at least once in their life and, thus, filled the requisites defined by this study. It was used for the analysis of the data the software SPSS version 20.0, and for the performance of the association between the sociodemographic/health characteristics and the frequency of alcoholic usage, it was used the quisquare test of Pearson. The ethical aspects regarding this study were considered in accordance of the Resolution nº 466/12, from the National Council of Heath. Regarding the frequency of alcohol consumption and the socio-demographic characteristics, it was observed proportional differences that were statistically significant related to the level of education of the interviewed women (p = 0,000). The completion of this research enabled a closer approach to the social and health context of pregnant women who consume alcohol. These women have special social and reproductive health cases that need to be considered during the promotion of the integral health care
